Strength in Unity

Transforming Vulnerable Communities in Uganda and Nigeria

Our Impactful Journey

Our mission is to cooperate with vulnerable communities in southwestern Uganda and northeastern Nigeria to ensure they have a healthy and sustainable lifestyle. As a non-profit organization founded in 2020, we focus on improving maternal and child health, nutrition, food security, education, and economic development through evidence-based projects.

We began by supporting the Batwa, one of the world's most vulnerable indigenous populations in Uganda, and have recently expanded to Nigeria's Borno region, an area severely affected by Boko Haram where malnutrition significantly impacts children and women.

We ensure sustainability by transferring ownership and responsibility of activities to the beneficiaries themselves, involving communities directly in planning and implementation, acting as facilitators rather than imposing solutions, respecting local knowledge while applying scientific methods, building human capital through empowerment, and sharing innovative, pragmatic solutions based on real needs.

At Empowering Vulnerable Communities, we believe in the power of unity and compassion. Our vision is to foster a world where every individual has the opportunity to thrive and lead a dignified life. Join us in making a difference today.

Our Initiatives

Explore our ongoing projects that are making a real difference in vulnerable communities. From ensuring access to life-saving maternal and child healthcare to implementing food security initiatives through agriculture support in Uganda and fortified food distribution in Nigeria, providing educational access for children in need, and preventing infectious diseases through comprehensive hygiene programs—our work is guided by the values of empathy, integrity, and empowerment.

Prevention of Infectious Diseases

Born as EVC's first project and supported since then through our various initiatives, we firmly believe that prevention is better than cure. For this reason, we focus on preventing infectious diseases through an integrated approach that includes continuous health and hygiene education, improving living conditions, installing handwashing stations, and monthly soap distribution. Our goal is to minimize the incidence of preventable diseases by promoting healthy behaviors and safer environments.

Maternal and Child Health

We ensure access to life-saving hospital care for the entire Batwa population, ensuring safe deliveries with qualified healthcare personnel and covering transportation costs and meals during hospital stays.

Adaptation Strategies and Food Security

Through projects supporting the elderly, agriculture, and livestock in Uganda, we work to strengthen income sources, promote economic and social development, and contribute to reducing child malnutrition. In Nigeria, through the production and distribution of fortified foods, we aim to prevent and treat malnutrition in women and children.

Education

We provide support for school access for children in difficulty, covering school fees and offering educational materials.
